The style we now call Mid-Century Modern also came as a reaction to the old way of living and was the fresh start, especially in the late 1940s – early 1950s. This was done by creating light, functional designs with straight and clean lines and bold colours. Decoration was secondary; in fact the simplicity became a decoration on its own.
